WASHINSKY, ROSE, 86, Bakerton, passed away on January 11, 2021 after a hard-fought battle with cancer. She is survived by Paul, her husband of 62 years, son David Washinsky and his wife Alison of Bridgeport, Ohio, son John Washinsky and his wife Susan of Clemmons, North Carolina, daughter Karen Crawford of Colver, son Thomas (Wo-Wo’s Mom) of Bakerton, grandchildren Matthew, Melanie, Gordon, Michael, and Trevor, and 8 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Mary Ilnicky of Irvona, sisters Ann Mazurak and Helen Panasuik, brothers Philip Ilnicky and Nicholas Ilnicky. She was born on October 4, 1934, in Philipsburg to Ukrainian immigrants and was a lifelong member of SS. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Bakerton. She was an avid Steelers and Penn State fan and enjoyed taking bus trips to Pittsburgh with her daughter. She was a skilled baker, having won a multitude of ribbons for her breads and confections at the local county fairs, and was known for her perogies and pigs-in-a-blanket. Long talks over coffee and tea at the kitchen table was a favorite pastime. Rose was a loving and devoted wife and mother who took care of her family. Family and friends will be received from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Thursday at Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at SS. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Bakerton. Please adhere to all Covid-19 precautions with masks and social distancing if planning to attend.
