MAURER, ROSEMARY, 96, Carrolltown, passed away May 4, 2023, at Conemaugh Valley Memorial Hospital, Johnstown. Born June 24, 1926, in Carrolltown, the daughter of the late DeSales and Regina (Carlheim) Switzler. Preceded in death by husband Robert F. Maurer; grandchildren, Devin James Maurer, Eric Michael Kelly, and Tonia Danyel Yeckley; siblings, Francis, Alfred, Donald, Doneath Switzler-Mandish, and Margueritte Switzler-Farabaugh. Survived by children, Michael (Jean McConnell) Maurer, Virginia; Mary Jane Rowland, Ebensburg; Thomas (Tammy Lentz) Maurer, Oregon; Patricia Ann (Mike) Miller, South Carolina; Robert (Chrissy Born) Maurer, Hastings; Annette Feighner, Carrolltown; Donald (Sue Lidwell) Maurer, Ashville; Edward Maurer, Carrolltown; William (Brenda Long) Maurer, Ebensburg; Donita (Mark) Kelly Ohio; Sally (Stan) Stolz, Arizona and Clinton (Jenny Kuntzman) Maurer, Carrolltown; 31 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Betty Lou Switzler, Patton, also numerous nieces and nephews. Rosemary was a devout catholic and member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, Carrolltown. Rosemary enlisted in the Cadet Nurses Corp program during WWII from 1944 to 1947, where she graduated as a Registered Nurse from Conemaugh Valley Memorial Hospital. She completed her BSN from St. Joseph College, North Windham, Maine. Employed as an Administrative Supervisor at Miners Hospital from 1958 to 1978, then Lee Hospital Poison Control Center and retiring from Ebensburg State School. During her career as a Registered Nurse, she also volunteered at American Red Cross teaching CPR and assisting with blood collections. Rose along with her husband, Robert were the owner/operators of Maurer Dive Shop, Carrolltown. She was past president of Laurel Divers, certified scuba diver and served as Secretary for John Carroll Ambulance Association. Rosemary enjoyed swimming with her morning friends, reading and especially spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Family and friends will be received from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, May 11, 2023, at Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria. Funeral Mass that will be celebrated, Friday, May 12, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Benedict Church, Carrolltown, Fr. Michael Gabler, officiating. Inurnment, St. Benedict Cemetery.
