DUNCHACK, RYAN A., 53, Nicktown, passed away June 12, 2021, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born December 11, 1967, in Spangler, the son of George and Carol (Funk) Dunchack, of Northern Cambria. In addition to his parents, he is survived by loving wife of 32 years, Fran (Rock) Dunchack; sons, Ryan (Trista) Dunchack, Pittsburgh and Daniel Dunchack, Charleston, SC; daughter, Alexa Dunchack, Ebensburg; and grandchildren, Rylei and Kamren Dunchack. Brother of Robin Dunchack, Northern Cambria; Randy (Robin) Dunchack, Fuquay, NC; and ReneeĢ Dunchack (Tony Brew), Northern Cambria and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. US Navy Veteran who served one tour in Iraq, and proud member of the Seabees, Naval Mobile Construction Battalion #23 where he served 23 years. Ryan’s “Can Do!” attitude was always an asset to his fellow Seamen. Retired Corrections Officer for the State Dept. of Corrections with 21 years of service. In his retirement, Ryan was proud to find time to serve American Legion Post 508 as Chaplain and VFW Post 7503 as District Representative. He honored fellow Veterans by attending all military funerals in the area. Member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Nicktown. Being born into the Byzantine Catholic faith, Ryan continued assisting and volunteering at St. John’s Byzantine Church in Northern Cambria, where the Dunchack family have been members for many generations. Hard-working, kind, and compassionate, he was devoted to his wife, children, and grandchildren. There was not an animal who didn’t love him, especially Teyha and Rory Roo—they will be lost without him. Family and friends will be received from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Friday at St. Nicholas Catholic Church. Fr. Jeremiah Lange, OSB, PhD officiating. Military honors conducted by local veteran’s organizations.
