Sara J. (Leone) Gray

GRAY, SARA J. “Bootsie” (Leone), 88, Hastings, passed away August 12, 2021, at UPMC Magee Women’s Hospital, Pittsburgh.  Born July 9, 1933, in Spangler, the daughter of Anthony and Marcella (Entler) Leone.  Preceded in death by parents; brothers, Jerry, and Gary Leone; sister, Jackie Eicher; son-in-law, Daniel Jackson; and granddaughter, Kelly Morgan.  Survived by loving husband of 67 years, Kenneth F. Gray; daughters, Sharon Jackson, Hastings; Jackie Vella (Bruce Fink), Northern Cambria; Patti Gray, Hastings; Janet Fiasco, Hastings; Karen Pryce, Patton; and Kathy (Raul) Gray, Round Rock, TX; 12 grandchildren, several great and great-great-grandchildren.  Also survived by brothers, Joseph “Marlin” Leone, Northern Cambria, and Jeff Leone, Jacksonville, NC.  Member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, Hastings.  Bootsie enjoyed playing bingo with her husband, trips to the casino, and was an avid bowler and card player—especially cinch and poker.  As a teenager, Bootsie was a skating instructor at Cicero’s Roller-Skating Rink in Ebensburg.  She was a longtime devoted Pirates fan.  She enjoyed camping trips with her mother, daughters, and grandchildren, going out dancing with her husband and daughters, shopping, gardening, jigsaw puzzles, and hosting all the family gatherings.  She was especially fond of having the entire, extended family (and many friends) over for a Christmas Eve celebration, as she loved to decorate, and was an excellent cook.  Spending time with family gatherings brought Bootsie and Ken great happiness and years of wonderful memories.  Friends will be received from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday at Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc. Northern Cambria.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. Bernard Catholic Church, Hastings. Fr. Thaddeus Rettger, OSB, celebrant.
