KOZUB, STEPHEN “Skip”, 83, Hastings, passed away, September 25, 2024, at Miners Hospital, surrounded by family and friends. Born December 10, 1940, in Hastings, son of the late Steve “Skip” and Anna (Brenza) Kozub. Preceded in death by parents; brother, Paul Kozub; sisters, Margaret Kozub, Mary Thomas, his twin, Helen Spahr; brothers-in-law, Kevin Thomas and Patrick Spahr; and niece, Cheryl (Kozub) May. Survived by loving wife of 25 years, Patricia (Collinash) Kozub; son, Stephen P. Kozub, Austintown, OH; stepsons, Ray (Yvonne) Hoppel, Lewistown, PA; Scott (Jessica) Hoppel, New Stanton; and grandchildren, Gianna, Grady, Peyton and Piper. Brother of Sally (David) Wharton, Dysart. Also survived by nieces and nephews, Stephanie Wharton, Craig, Jennifer and Kiah Wharton, Matt, Jill and Silas Wharton. Member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, Hastings. Proud US Army Veteran of the Vietnam War and member of VFW Post 1586, Hastings and American Legion Post 506, Carrolltown. Retired after 33 years working at General Motors Assembly Plant, Lordstown, OH. Member of UAW Local 1112. Life member of Hastings Fire Club and Loyal Order of the Moose. He enjoyed many years playing pool alongside his friends in the Hastings Pool League. In his free time, Skip enjoyed the outdoors and deer hunting with his son. He was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Together with Patty, they enjoyed many years of traveling throughout the world visiting interesting places and meeting new people. Family and friends will be received on Monday, September 30, 2024, at St. Bernard Catholic Church, beginning at 10:00 a.m. A funeral mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Thaddeus Rettger, OSB, celebrant. Committal, St. Bernard Cemetery. Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria in charge of arrangements.
