SLAVIK, VIRGINIA, L., 81, Northern Cambria, passed away peacefully on September 25th in Guilderland NY. Born August 9, 1944, in Barnesboro, PA, the daughter of John and Doris (Jodon) Gleydura. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Andrew Slavik (2014); son, Ronald Slavik (2013); sisters, Beverly Kolasa, Polly Menz and Shirley Mahute. Survived by loving daughters, Jacqueline Slavik, wife of Andrew Roebuck, Milton, MA; and Janice Slavik, wife of Dan Wander, Guilderland, NY; grandchildren, Lauren Roebuck and Benjamin Wander as well as her siblings Judy Hill, John Gleydura, Sandy Hetrick and Nancy Malysa. Virginia graduated from Northern Cambria High School in 1962 and became an X-ray Technician at Miners Hospital. After moving to the Kingston NY area with her husband, she worked as a merchandiser at American Greetings and as a Pharmacy Technician at Walgreens. In the 1970’s and 80’s she was a member of St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church in Lake Katrine NY, where she sang in the choir and served as a CCD instructor. Virginia also gave her time as secretary and treasurer of the Halcyon Park Civic Association. She moved back to the Barnesboro area in the early 90s. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and loved her homes in Halcyon Park and Northern Cambria, plastic crafting and Christmas. She will be fondly remembered for her warmth, dedication, and the love she shared with her family. Family and friends will be received from 1:00 pm until time of service at 3:30 pm, Thursday, October 2, 2025, at Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria.
