FRANK, WILLIAM J. SR. “Jook”, 95, Elmora, passed away January 17, 2025. Born July 29, 1929, in Marsteller, son of the late John Sr. and Helen “Nellie” (Norton) Frank. Bill entered the Army in 1951 during the Korean War and proudly served as a military policeman with the 523rd unit at Aberdeen Proving Ground. When he returned home, Bill married Laura Jeanne (Smith) on July 6, 1959, and together they raised their three children, Kathy Ellen (Michael) Petrisko, Northern Cambria; Lisa Ann (Vincent) Sedlemyer, Nicktown; and William Joseph Jr. (Cindy) Frank, Northern Cambria. Jook loved his grandchildren, Joshua Michael (Megan) Petrisko, Rebecca Jean (Matthew) Barczak, and Shane Vincent Sedlemyer. “Pap” was a constant supporter throughout their childhood years and was full of pride watching them become successful adults. He was blessed with his first great-grandson, Nolan Paul Petrisko in 2024 and was delighted to know another is expected this year in June. His family was his world. In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanne who died February 1, 1991; brothers, John Frank Jr. and James Frank; and sisters, Doris Domalik and Sara Madachick. Also surviving are his sisters, Patricia Weakland, Judy (Robert) Sherry, and Mary Ann Williams; sisters-in-law, Violet (Ducky) Myers and Darlene (Thomas) Endler; and many nieces and nephews. Jook was a retired coalminer with 35 years of service at Barnes & Tucker Mine 20 and proud member of UMWA. In retirement he continued to stay busy and worked as a security guard at Duman Lake Park. He was a member of the Spangler American Legion Post 569, Bakerton Rod & Gun Club, and the Old Timers Baseball League. He was known to everyone in town as a hard-working, tough and generous man who led a simple life. He could be found most days socializing at the Bakerton Post Office, Erma Jean’s or Kosta’s Restaurants because he truly enjoyed the company of others. He was an avid Notre Dame sports fan and appreciated quiet time reading. But above all, he was a loving father and grandfather who made his priority taking care of his children and grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends; all of whom knew they were blessed by God to have him for 95 years. Family and friends will be received from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m., Monday, January 20, 2025, at Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria. Mililitary honors will be conducted on Tuesday, January 21, at 10:30 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Mark Groeger officiating. Committal will be in Bakerton Methodist Cemetery. Special thanks are extended to Dr. Matthew Dvorchak, Conemaugh Miners and Main Campus, HAIDA Manor, Resta Home Care, neighbors of Bakerton, and all who touched Dad’s wonderful life.
