BYRNE, William G. “Bill”, 87, Hastings, passed away October 18th, 2024, at HAIDA Health & Rehabilitation Center, surrounded by his loving family. Born May 20, 1937, the son of George and Isabella (Strittmatter) Byrne. Preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Donna (Frank) Olenchick and Wilda Byrne; son, Georgie and daughter, Susie. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jane (Miller) Byrne; daughter, Nancy (Ronald) McMahon, Marsteller; son, Frank (Saundra) Byrne, Northern Cambria; Kenneth (Brenda) Byrne, Emeigh; Robert (Brenda) Byrne, Emeigh; Edward Byrne, Hastings; and Jennifer (Jeffrey) Legrand, Hastings. Grandchildren, Nicholas (Leslee) McMahon, Nathan (Mary) McMahon, Eric (Renee) McMahon; Jennifer Keith, Katie Milchak, Serenity (Stephen) Arose; Patrick (Tannis Conway) Byrne, Michael (Ashley) Byrne, Tressa Byrne; Charles Legrand, Maya Legrand; Crystal (Will) Campbell, Ashley Byrne, William (Sara) Byrne; and great- grandchildren, Wren McMahon, Sadie Jane McMahon, Wyatt McMahon, Coraline McMahon, Damian Keith, Logan Keith, Arieana Keller, Walter Keller, Deandra Arose, Joseph Byrne, Kenneth Byrne, Leland Byrne, Delilah Byrne, Hannah Byrne, Roman Byrne. Also survived by sister, Ethel Baker, Hastings. Bill was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, Hastings, Life member of the Hastings V.F.W. and Hastings Fire Club. Bill retired from Caracciola’s in Altoona as a life-long diesel mechanic and welder. Then in his later years worked at Advanced Auto in Ebensburg. There was not a motor he couldn’t keep running. He was a Ford enthusiast and known by his family and friends for his collection of antique cars and memorabilia. His most enjoyable past time was riding his motorcycle. Family and friends will be received 2 – 4 & 6 – 8 p.m. Friday, October 25, 2024, at Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria. A funeral service will be held at 6:30 p.m. with Fr. Thaddeus Retger, OSB, celebrant. Committal, St. Bernard Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial tributes be directed to Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc. for William G. Byrne.
