Obituary for Nicholas L. Kohan

KOHAN, NICHOLAS L. “Nick”, 81, St. Benedict, passed away August 4, 2018, at home. Born January 3, 1937, in St. Benedict, the son of Nicholas and Anna (Lechminek) Kohan. Preceded in death by parents; sisters, Ann Kohan, Mary Kohan and Catherine Weitbrecht; and brothers, William, John, Peter, Michael, Joseph and Stephen Kohan. Survived by loving wife of 51 years, Patricia (Doran) Kohan and sons, Bevan Kohan, Perkasie, PA and Christopher Kohan, Marysville, PA. Also survived by brother, Andrew Kohan, Ebensburg; sister, Helen Whiteford, Ebensburg and many nieces and nephews. Nick retired after teaching more than 30 years with IU8 and was a member of PSEA. Served in the Naval Reserve and member of Spangler American Legion Post 569 and social member of VFW Post 7503. Life member of St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church. Nick enjoyed the outdoors and was a member of Emeigh Sportsman and the Braggers Club and previously a member at Braggers Camp Potter County and CD Camp. Member of Spangler Fire Company. No viewing or visitation at the request of the deceased. A private funeral service is planned for the Kohan family. A memorial mass will be held at a later date. Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of "Nick" to St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church or Heritage Hospice, 2400 Leechburg Rd, Ste 300, New Kensington, PA 15068.
